Hi, i'm new to linux and i have backtrack 5 R3 installed. I needed a vpn connection, searched the web and found out that i should user KNetworkManager. So installed it with package manager. I added a PPTP vpn connection and a wired connection. When i click the NetworkManager icon in the taskbar my two connections appear, but when i click on them nothing happens. When i move my mouse over the NetworkManager icon a baloon pops up whcich reads 'Unmanaged'.
At first, i had Wicd still running and my ethernet connection was actually managed by it. I disconnected the Wicd connection but it didn't help. Then killed the Wicd process, but still nothing happened when i clicked the connection. Then i removed Wicd from package manager but still nothing has happpend. NetworkManager icon shows 'Unmanaged' connection and my wired and vpn connection don't work. And most interestingly is that i'm posting this thread without having a connection manager. How the hell i have acquired an ip, i don't know.
