OK, this is going to sound strange, but I am just not l33t enough to know the answer:

I have a HP Pavilion dv1000 laptop that has an Intel Pro 2100/2200 wireless NIC. I had to add the firmware to enable to wireless card - which it did. However, though I can see wireless networks available using Wicd Network Manager, I cannot seem to see wireless networks using airodump-ng. I also do not seem to be able to start airmon-ng using "airmon-ng start eth1", but I do seem to be able to stop it (it throws an ERROR when I start it):

root@bt:~# airmon-ng start eth1

Found 2 processes that could cause trouble.
If airodump-ng, aireplay-ng or airtun-ng stops working after
a short period of time, you may want to kill (some of) them!

PID	Name

Process with PID 1461 (dhclient3) is running on interface eth1

Interface	Chipset Driver

eth1 Intel 2200BG/2915ABG	ipw2200 - [phy0]mon0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device

				(monitor mode enabled on mon0)
I am new to this and I am trying to crack my own network to learn.
