    Default General Disagreements

I was on the freenode IRC @ #backtrack-linux earlier today. And I was having a good time joking around. I made some harmless comments to someone and got kicked. I'll talk about it after I post it:
    <snafu777> try this dude
    <snafu777> sudo dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/sda
    <snafu777> its called god mode
    <snafu777> it rocks
    <BigBallWiggles> ok
    <BigBallWiggles> i sec
    <snafu777> rgr
    <snafu777> lemme know
    <BigBallWiggles> your a dumb ****
    <syntax_erorr> BigBallWiggles, who?
    <BigBallWiggles> the dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/sda
    <snafu777> its god mode man
    <BigBallWiggles> ...guy
<snafu777> the power of god in yer own keyboard
    <snafu777> Unleash it!
    <syntax_erorr> hahahaha
    <snafu777> granted
    <snafu777> thats his destroy power
    <snafu777> but hey
    <snafu777> its god mode
<snafu777> I just didnt say which part
    <snafu777> =)
<syntax_erorr> he is the destory, he is the giver!
    <BigBallWiggles> id rather cat /dev/urandom
    <syntax_erorr> giver?
    <syntax_erorr> is that aword?
<^-^guppie___> Yes. "Giver" is one who gives.
<snafu777> cat is a weaker mode man
<snafu777> gotta go with the dd
    <BigBallWiggles> or cat /dev/urandom > /dev/dsp
<^-^guppie___> ... or a typo for "fiver" which is an amount of money.
    <snafu777> how bout
    <snafu777> dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=512 count=1???
    <snafu777> I like that one a lot
    <muts> bad advice
    * muts sets ban on *!
Whatever happened to the days where we didn't treat people like general idiots?

Yes, I know that people do dumb things, and the commands I typed in could have really done some damage if the guy had tried em, but if you read the post, you realize that he definitely knew better than to do that by his words. As well, what real linux user would just type a random command without doing some research first? Have we come that far in the linux world...let alone the backtrack world to succumb to socialist tendencies and coddle the people?

I think my quote sums it up best:
"I made a discovery today. I found a computer. Wait a second, this is cool. It does what I want it to. If it makes a mistake, it's because I screwed it up. Not because it doesn't like me... Or feels threatened by me.. Or thinks I'm a smart ass.. "
I would like to place an emphasis on the "I screwed up part"

    Just my two cents..

The channel is not place for you to joke around.

Our channel is a support channel and we try to maintain the reputation when people come in asking for help, they shouldn't double think if they should trust the advice they got , or some prankster is playing a joke on the for their own amusement. The same goes for this forum.

Believe it or not, there are people who are beginners and think there are other fellow users who will help them in learning, and not try to screw their system up.
