Question help me, to expand my disk space

    Dear friends,

I'm not a beginner of backtrack. Couple years back, I have installed backtrack in my harddisk.
Due, to regular update/upgrade, and installation of third party package, I'm out of memory.
Could can one help me to solve this problem.
    80 GB = windows 40 GB + Backtrack 40 GB

    Please, find me the solution.........
    with regards
    Nirmal jose ;)

Well there really is no way that you could have "installed backtrack" a "couple years back" and still be considered current. So go get BT4 R1 download it and install it to the same space you are using now.
    Problem solved.
To be successful here you should read all of the following.
If you are new to Back|Track
    Back|Track Wiki
Failure to do so will probably get your threads deleted or worse.

and as far as regular maint. of your HD space going forward, BT uses apt for package management now, so be sure that you periodically flush your /var/apt/cache (#apt-get clean)

make sure you don't have any unpartitioned space laying around
clear out your /tmp directory from time to time
keep all your downloads in a single, structured directory for easy cleaning and maintenance (this goes for forensics data as well)
periodically audit your installed proggies to determine their current value (if you remove them with apt, be sure to use the 'purge' option after backing up any custom settings/data)
clear out any language packages you don't need
clear out any proggie documentation that you don't need

    good luck with that...
