Default No network connection in Backtrack?

Apologies if this is in the wrong area of the forum, but I figured I may as well post it here since I'm new to Backtrack and this is more than likely a stupid question with an obvious answer.

I launched Backtrack for the first time a few hours ago and entered startx to initiate the GUI. I played around with the terminal for awhile, tried out some of the tools, thought it was all very cool. I shut down Backtrack (on vmware, by the way) and the next time I launch it I suddenly have no internet. At all. Browsers won't load any pages, I can't ping anything, etc etc.

What the hell did I do? :P

Thanks in advance for all answers.

Networking does not start by default in BackTrack... you need to run "/etc/init.d/networking start" to start it, or otherwise manually configure your network card. Search the forum, theres more info to be found on the subject.
Capitalisation is important. It's the difference between "Helping your brother Jack off a horse" and "Helping your brother jack off a horse".
