well I just got my Alfa + a 9dbi antenna yesterday and of course like other users said its awesome! However my friend was over to bask in the alfa's glory so we tried connecting to his wireless (my other cards could never find it), his house is 4 houses down. When I connected to it (4 bars out of 5) I kept getting error messages stating "not associated" even with windows wireless program it kept saying windows was unable to connect to the network blah blah blah it could be out of range. If this helps any he does have WEP and he was pretty sure he typed the WEP key in right. anyways if you can help it would be greatly appreciated.

just an update he set his router to open for the mean time and I still get the error messege im confused

4 out of 5 bars? Must be a technical term.

Try moving closer, see if it works.
A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.
