I downloaded and extracted bt3 onto my usb drive. I also checked the md5 after downloading the image.

The problem is that backtrack gets stuck after 'loading data directory.'

I've searched the forums and found users suggesting to append syslinux\syslinux.cfg file.

I modified it to it looks like:
APPEND vga=0x317 initrd=/boot/initrd.gz ramdisk_size=6666 root=/dev/ram0 rw autoexec=xconf;kdm BT3 from=/dev/sda1

i tried booting from this, still not working. Can someone please help me fix this?

has anyone found a solution to this "loading data directory" problem?

is there a way i can boot backtrack without data directory?
