BT Sniffing?

Well This semester is almost over! I asked my teacher if he had anything that I could look into during the summer that would keep me busy?

He said look into Wifi sniffing and BT sniffing!

Well I got the wifi covered, but what about Bluetooth?

The normal dongle is about $50.00 so this modification hes doing for the antenna is 100% Markup.

Is it worth it? Would this be a good BT sniffer?

(Also I read that paper on Remote-Exploits website on BT sniffers and how hard they are go get, thats why im asking...

You are looking for the CSR BC0* * = 2,3,4 chipset. I suggest you research abit more before jumping in.

We include a Class 1 USB Bluetooth adapter manufactured by Linksys that has been professionally modified with the addition of an RP-SMA connector allowing connection of an external +5 dBi omni directional folding antenna.

That bit made me laugh I've never seen a "Professional" modified bluetooth dongle with a great big cable tie holding the cable

Well I dont know about plastic box idea...but hey, I might try it some day (I say that a lot). As for the D-Link DBT-120, That looks good, but whats the range on that thing?

Also where can I get the CSR Updated Firmware for it? If thats the upgradeable sniffer type dongle?

Range on the D-Link adapter is irrelevant when it comes down to sniffing bluetooth packets. Range for bluetooth "sniffing" is about 6 to 12 inches from the master I'm afraid. When the weather gets abit better I hope to do some research with long range sniffing

I have added a sma connector to a bluetooth dongle and I'm just waiting for my amp and antenna to turn up.

And you think that box would really fit the card? That has a external connector. I would think I would get a better range with that one then the D-Link....? But i still am hesitant when it comes to arts-and-crafts project....
