Default I'm new: installed backtrack 2 final on vmware player, now what??

so i installed backtrack 2 on vmware player by following the video on how to install from HDD. backtrack 2 is running but when i run ifconfig it shows eth0 and its ip address and mac address but there is no wireless device. all i have is a netgear wpn311 wireless pci adaptor attached to my desktop computer. how do i get it into monitor mode in vmware player? i have looked for hours on this forum for answers and i feel like a chicken with my head cut off. any help would be nice, either links to my question or straight up answers...thanks in advance and sorry for a newbie question...

I guess you can't, you need a USB wifi card that would be seen by BT from inside VMWare.

VMWare on it's own does not provide a wifi card to the hosted machine, only eth cards in bridged, NAT or Host only configuration. Since it also provides USB devices you can probably plug a USB wifi card and have it recognized by VMWare.
