Thread: wifi is fine but no wired connection with BT3?

    Default wifi is fine but no wired connection with BT3?

    I can connect with my wifi but no connection for wired? How to solve this?

    OK cem, I'll try to help... I am also a newbie [with bt, not linux] with just 1 post.

    First, we need more information about your setup and what you are trying.

    1) what kind of laptop? which ethernet adapter device brand/model?

    2) some system output would help... what does /sbin/lspci show?
    (shows what hardware devices were detected at boot time)

    3) and the same for lsmod?
    (shows what drivers are loaded)

    4) what commands or GUIs are you using to connect?

    Run "dhcpcd" in a command prompt when you are connected to a line

    4. Didn't know any commands actually I used kubuntu 7.10 before and it was detecting automatically so i don't know any commands and not using any GUIs should I ?

    Yesss!!! I made it work finally, a few hours of google search and read finally, I made it work...

    To make your wired connection work you need to work your wireless connection first or you need to carry the driver file with a usb flash to your box....

    0. Get the latest drivers:
    cd /root
    Code:
        wget ftp://hogchain.net/pub/linux/attansic/vendor_driver/l1-linux-v1.2.40.2.tar.gz
    1. Move the base driver tar file to the directory of your choice. For example,
    use /root/atl1

    2. Untar/unzip archive:

    tar xzvf atl1-x.x.x.tar.gz

    3. Change to the driver src directory:

    cd atl1-x.x.x/src/

    4. Compile the driver module:

    make install

    The binary will be installed as:

    /lib/modules/<KERNEL VERSION>/kernel/drivers/net/atl1.ko

    5. Install the module:

    cd /lib/modules/<KERNEL VERSION>/kernel/drivers/net
    insmod atl1 TxDescriptors=80,128

    6. Set the interface up

    ifconfig eth0 up

    6. Assign an IP address automatically:

    dhcpcd eth0

    7. Voila

    ping <IP_address>
