I need to install to a USB drive because I have a new Vista laptop that can't be re-formatted. I've searched for a how-to on installing to a USB thumb drive but have been unable to find one.
I downloaded the 945mb and this is what the install.txt file says:
Here's what I did. I formatted my 2GB USB Microvault to FAT32 under Vista. I then copied all BT3 and Boot directories over to the USB drive. I put in the BT3 Live CD, Booted to it, went into the terminal screen, changed to /mnt/bootUSB Install:
Copy the "boot" and "BT3" Directory to the root of your USB device.
Under Linux, change directory to the freshly copied /boot directory on the USB device.
MAKE sure your're in the "boot" directory on the USB device!
run ./boostinst.sh
unmount usb device.
Voila.
at the prompt I typed:
./bootinst.sh
A screen came up and said that it was going to install BT3 and would over write the MBR. I don't know if that meant the MBR of my HD or my USB drive. I figured it was my HD so I stopped. Is this right?
So how do I install it so I can boot from a USB drive?
Thanks
PS, the BT3 is AWESOME!!!
