Try to run startkde from the commandline.
Hello, I have experienced this problem after I use flux command to see what fluxbox looks like. After that I reboot my backtrack 2 (installed in my HD), and I want run KDE, so I type startx and it still run fluxbox, I reboot several times, startx can't run KDE. What should I do?
It doesn't work. When I run startkde, there are some errors which I forgot (I just remember "couldn't connect to X server", and some errors are related to kdesplash, kdeinit). Then back to main screen (I don't know what name for this screen, after you login as root) again.
Well without the proper error messages it's hard to give you any more answers.
Not sure what you exactly did but that is not a normal behaviour.

in bt3final or some version, I think they do that for you since root user does not usually works with graphic interface. Let add a new user and use it.
or try this:
then run startxCode:mv .kde kde
if it's still not working, try
Code:mv .fluxbox fluxboxafter all, I think creating a new user is the best way to go.
I've had the same problem with BackTrack3 Final HD installation. Once I typed "flux" to start the fluxbox I can type "startx" as often as I want and the command starts the fluxbox. I've solved this problem via a reinstallation of BackTrack3.
I got the same problem
