Has anyone tried this USB dongle ?
XXX.data-alliance.net/servlet/the-135/RealTek-8187-RTL8187L-300mW/Detail
(change the XXX to WWW since I can't post URL until 15 post)
It has a RealTek 8187 also known as RTL8187L Chipset, So it should work with B|T3 as others have reported success with the 8187 chipset.
My questions is if anyone that has used this one is getting excellent coverage and if the 300mW is for real. The USB and external Antenna Jack would allow various configurations.
$ 40.00 US seems a good deal if it works in linux / B|T. Not sure who manufactures it for Data-Alliance.

EXCELLENT FIND!!
$40, not bad at all.
I though I did something wrong when I saw the thread closed.
Thank you for opening it back up.
Even though no one has yet to reply as to trying this USB adapter yet, I will more than likely order one next week. I am running out of Dwl-G122's As I have been rather rough on them.
I want to step up in power but the Ubiquiti cards / USB adapters are a lot more $ and I'm not sure if they will really perform better.
I saw this on another website the other day, it looks excellent.

I purchased my Alfa 500mw from Data-alliance through an ebay link, so i can vouch for them as I'm more than happy wiht my card.
I might be tempted into buying one of these aswell purely because its cheap![]()
nobody buy it? looks very good
usb dongle with same chip as Alfa 500mw (AWUS036H),
i must try it soon![]()
yep,today i have this adapter
work nice with rtl8187 driver in bt3 (same as ALFA 500mw) in airodump,aireplay,mdk3-in mdk3 works like good jammer![]()
Real powerfull, real better than other ordinary usb wlan adapters.
but im not sure if is real 300mw?? on the pack is printed :Transmitter Power: 19+-1dBm,i cant seen on adapter FCC ID (only FC logo is on stick)
so i cant confirm if is 300mw, maybe 200mw
still good price ...
Well there is no way to definitely determine the real output power of the card without additional, and rather expensive, hardware. However, since you mention that it uses the same driver as the Alfa 500mw card I would assume that you need to use the high TX power setting to be able to use the full power of the card, and this setting can potentially damage the card. There is some discussion about that specific option in the following thread:...but im not sure if is real 300mw?? on the pack is printed :Transmitter Power: 19+-1dBm,i cant seen on adapter FCC ID (only FC logo is on stick)
so i cant confirm if is 300mw, maybe 200mw
