    Default Hawking HWUG1 Success

The Hawking HWUG1 Wireless USB adapter which gave me a headache on several occasions in BT2 was able to crack both WPA and WEP 128 in BT3 in no time.

The ralink rt73 drivers seem to be working wonderfully in BT3, the RP-SMA connector on the adapter allows for the addtion of a high gain antennas and the low price make this a highly recommended card for anyone in the market for a new one.

That's right, both devices are essentially the same thing. As far as I know the Alfa AWUS036S is also the same. Highly recommended, I also have the Edimax version.

What is the difference between the alfa AWUS036E and the alfa AWUS036S?

Big difference. The AWUS036E is about 316mW and is more powerful than the AWUS036S.
It also has the same RTL8187L chipset as the highly acclaimed alfa 500mw (AWUS036H).

The AWUS036S has the same RT73 chipset as the Hawking HWUG1 and the Edimax EW-7318USg.

The AWUS036S is cheaper than the AWUS036E.

Lastly... they look a lot different

    I can't find the AWUS036S anywhere, but the AWUS036E I found at data-alliance, and it's $28, I found that hawking HWUG1 and it was $45(Canadian)
Would you say that the AWUS036E is a better choice to get then?

I know, it's not even on the Alfa website. I wonder if they even make it anymore.

That sounds like a good price

I wouldn't recommend the Hawking HWUG1 for that very reason. One can get the Edimax EW-7318USg for about half the price and it's essentially the same thing.

It looks the better choice but if you can afford to pay a bit extra, an even better choice would be the Alfa 500mW (AWUS036H).

    Thumbs up

Okay I will probably get the AWUS036E after I get my new laptop, I would get the AWUS036H but I will be tight on cash after I get the laptop.

Thanks for posting the eBay link, I was going to order off the store, but if I order of eBay I get eBay credz
