HowTo: Install BT4 Final On a Mac

I disagree; I am constantly checking these links, and just checked them all. They work. The only one that wasn't working (which was noted in the post before I moved over to blogger) was usb_format.exe

Unless there was a severe disruption in the time-space continuum, where all the servers went down at the same time, or you had a faulty internets connection, I'm going to refer you to this page.

Great guide. I have a Macbook Pro and used a different method but that looks good. There is new stuff in there that I didn't try but would next time I have to reformat. I Triple-Booted my Mac with BT4, Win7 and OSX. It took a while and lots of rewriting and installing of OS's into partitions but it worked. I don't think I'd write a guide for Triple Booting since it was very convoluted and had way too much error rather than trials.

Thanks again! Great to hear of another Mac user. Now if you could figure out the Broadcom card....

I ran into a problem with super-sized fonts that made KDE unusable, the

startx -- -dpi 100

fixed that though.

Why the need for XP and the proprietary USB_format.exe. BT boots fine off my live CD on the macbook 5,1, and installs pretty well too. I even have BT images loaded into my deploystudio.

Also you could try fleshing it out with notes about the drivers for bluetooth and wireless - those being the notorious bad ones.

I just wanted to update that once I installed the nVidia drivers I can startx without the -dpi switch.

i've rewritten the usb_format.exe portion of the tutorials to use the windoze format utility.

I tried running BT 3 through a live cd but I got errors and didn't make it I will try BT 4 which I hope will work...

this tutorial is for backtrack 4 final, so you'll definitely have better luck following it if you use bt4
