After updating kismet with the update scripd i got the following error after trying to start kismet

Launching kismet_server: /usr/local/bin/kismet_server
FATAL:  Could not find user 'your_user_here' for dropping priviledges.  Make sure you have a valid user set for 'suiduser' in your config file.  See the 'Installation & Security' and 'Configuration' sections of the README file for more information.
Done.

I'm using an EEE PC with a SDHC BT3 install. What do i have to do (add to kismet.conf) to get kismet running again.

Ok read the readme and created a new user for kismet, edited line suiduser and source in kismet_conf. Now I'm getting following Error when starting kismet from anywhere beside the homefolder of the new kismetuser (/home/kismetuser/ ):

FATAL: Dump file error: Unable to open dump file Kismet-Feb-23-2008-1.dump (Permission denied)
Sending termination request to channel control child 8817....

The script should have created the user and changed the kismet.conf for you.

I am sorry but I can't help you. I don't use kismet.

Here this is my kismet.conf file cut and paste and add it to your eeepc making sure to delete or at least rename your others and see if that helps
Also when you download the file make sure that you change the " .txt"
to a " .conf " file or it will not work.

I'm sorry, your .conf does not work. Starting Kismet with your .conf produces following error:

bt ~ # kismet

FATAL:  Specifying a uid-0 user for the priv drop is pointless.  See the 'Installation & Security' and 'Configuration' sections of the README file for more information.
Done.

Your .conf sets suiduser=root, i added suiduser=kismet (it seems any other user is possible too, it seems user 'kismet' was added by the script, i did not create this user). Starting kismet anywhere beside the folder specified in 'configdir=' produces the 'FATAL: Dump file error...' i posted above. So its only a minor issue i can live with. Kismet IS running - I just have to start it as root in the folder Kismet dumps the logs to. Anyway thanks for your help archangel.

sorry it didn't work right for you. I left everything in the default config with the exception of the "sources=" section. I then fired it up and more or less turned kismet back off and moved on to something else.

Nice script, but one problem, Aircrack 1.0 Dev is no longer on the site, but there is a 1.0 Beta 2 in the Trunk folder
