    Default Launching kismet_server: Trouble!

I just installed bt3 to hdd I updated it with fasttrack and I have edited the kismet.conf with source=rt2500,rausb0 ,RT73. I did put it in monitor mode.
    And I have searched it.

FATAL: Specifying a uid-0 user for the priv drop is pointless. See the 'Installation & Security' and 'Configuration' sections of the README file for more information.
    Done.
    bt ~ #

Did you really google your error msg!?

If you did, you'd find a lot of the resulting links lead right back here to these forums!

So, even searching the forums directly would probably be all you need to do

This would be the results of what Re@lity was talking about:
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search

I would suggest Gonzo that you have a look at the kismet docs located here
    http://www.kismetwireless.net/documentation.shtml

Have a look at the readme and it will give you lots of information that will get your kismet up and running.

Also please try and use the edit feature in your posts instead of just making a new one when you have a new thought on the same subject

Gonzo you have the error right there in the second quote,
you will need to read the user manual I gave the link for it earlier.
Also this has been answered numerous times here on the forums
and I thought that I would take the privelage of looking once again for you,
    and I found this:
    http://www.binrev.com/forums/index.p...0&#entry297744

And something tells me that it is you.
I would suggest that since both here and on another forum that this same exact question with the same setup has been asked and the answer given you stop messing with kismet and learn some linux basics then when you get finished maybe you will have an easier time!!
Gonzo=Sry Im new to ubuntu I usually use backtrack from flashdrive but I install ubuntu 7.10 to my harddrive. Thanks for the help

gonzo, in the /pentest/misc folder there is asvn update script for kismet. Run that. make sure you put your sources back in the kismet.conf and see if that helps.
