    Thumbs up ihackcharities

    Greetings all,

I watched Johnny Long's con at DefCon 15 - T112 - No-Tech Hacking after streaker69 told me about it in a previous thread. Johnny mentions his trip to Uganda in Africa and he talked about his new project ihackcharities.ORG and how we the hacking community can help the kids in 3rd world countries that are deprived of all technological equipment such as laptops, data sticks..hell everything!

Well, I emailed Johnny via the comment box on his site there now. Im donating a lot of networking equipment and a few old Pentium II computers I have in my attic. I am starting this thread because I would like everyone to know [who doesn't know] that it would be a very nice thing to help these kids in Africa get a good education by donating anything you can. From a bag of pencils/pens, printer paper...anything at all. Even if you donate stuff that Johnny could sell on eBay or at his local pawn shop and turn it into hard cash. This way Johnny could use that pawnage money to invest in something else that will double/triple the donation.

If you do not have anything to donate, you could also donate your skillzZZz

You can find the website here:

Thanks for your time in reading this.

Seems like I remember them mentioning this over at DefCon. Good charity from what I've been told.

    Aye,

Johnny has been doing a lot of work in Uganda helping the children over there. If you watch that video 'No-Tech-Hacking' you will see what I am talking about..plus its really REALLY funny the topics he covers apart from this charity

Johnny is a cool guy, and his heart is definately in the right place.

Another non-profit organization that may be of interest to people here is the Hacker Foundation. hackerfoundation.org The HF funds projects that are hacker related, including a fund specifically for Metasploit.

It's a good idea, but hopefully the equipment is actually going to people that aren't 419'ers.
A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.

My favorite reply to 419'ers wanting to use my bank account is...

After that I never hear from them again. I guess with them wanting to use my US bank account to deposit their 25 million in it...me asking for $5,000 to cover expenses on my end was just too steep for them.
