Default Backtrack 4 VMware in Windows XP

    Hi,
This is my first post and I hope not to ask again a question that somebody already asked.
My problem is that when I open a new shell and type AIRMON-NG I can't see any devices, why?( only in VMware)

Everything is working fine if I boot BT4 directly from CD before windows starts but If I install BT4 in windows in VMware the airmon-ng command show no devices, why?

In VMware, virtual network editor I can see my two wireless cards....

    Anyone can help please?

    Thanks in advance

Well I have a EDIMAX ( ralink) PCMCI wireless card and an integrated card that is INTEL 2200... chipset is centrino ( eth1)
I have Vmware 7.0 and the card is connected.
Probably I need a USB card?

A simple search on these forums would have provided you with the answer given above by kuronity.

Unless you have a USB adapter, and pass it through to your VM, you aren't going to be able to use PCI, PCMCIA or other wireless on the host machine other than a USB which is passed through.

I miss our banners too... It would have worked so well here...

@OP: Simple search... wait, Simple "Look in the FAQ" would have shown you the answer. I'll even give you a link: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forum...irtualbox.html
Common Knowledge: Username, "root". Password, "toor". "startx" gives you a GUI, and "fix-vesa" will fix BT if you have no GUI. Start networking with "/etc/init.d/networking start" and check your IP settings with "ifconfig -a". "dhclient" will automatically use DHCP for your IP. Google is your friend.

someone posted the other day about this, and provided a work around for internal cards. It supposedly worked for connection purposes, but I dont think it was working for injection and stuff. Get a good usb card like an ALFA. I promise you wont regret it.
