i agree with dave vista is a hog, my laptop came with vista installed i uninstalled it then put xp with backtrack in dual boot for a fiew days then i uninstalled windows compleatly and now im using ubuntu and backtrack, to awnser your question it depends what u want if you want to do any kind of wireless auditing then live cd or install is the way, if are serious about learnin linux and plan 2 use it every day then defo just install it
