Default How does free wireless on certain devices work?

I hope this is the correct section.

Im curious about how the free wifi with certain devices work.
For example the new Sony Mylo on the engadget site stated
"Free Wayport WiFi access at your local participating McDonald's until December 31, 2010"

I think the PSP has a similar thing with 6 months of tmobile. DS users are supposed to get Wayport access as well, though im not sure if its just limited to gaming online. And Vista users used to have the option of using the internet for free if they had vista.

I suppose its illegal to emulate a device but I have just been curious about how those work. Never tried to access those with my PSP to see the 6 months worth.

Logically, you would probably want to read the TOS of the offer...?
