well the reason why i am using whax instead of backtrack because i can not find good guides on wpa cracking on backtrack.... do you know of any guides? and where can i check which wifi cards are supported by backtrack.

There's posts on many working cards in the froum.
Also, there's an HCl on the wiki.
I believe any wifi cards working with aircrack is supported in backtrack.
