Hi when I use:
I get:Code:fdisk /dev/sda
Unable to open /dev/sda
I followed all steps on the video!!
It is hdc so I guess it should then be:
Gonna try it out now thanxCode:fdisk hdc
I now get the following:
When I try mkfs.ext3 /dev/hdc It won't work!!Code:You will not be able to write the partition table. Note: sector size is 2048 (not 512) Device contains neither a valid DOS partition table, nor Sun, SGI or OSF disklabel Building a new DOS disklabel. Changes will remain in memory only, until you decide to write them. After that, of course, the previous content won't be recoverable. Warning: invalid flag 0x0000 of partition table 4 will be corrected by w(rite) Command (m for help):
Okej I fixed it.
I made an extra virtual IDE hard disk(the other was SCSI). And now it works fine.
Thnx anyway
hows it going?
i am having a bit of trouble with the install on vmware.
i run through and do all the fdisk stuff (my drive /dev/hda)
runs fine.
then do the mkfs and mkswap works dandy
create the mount point and then mount. seems great so far.
i go to the install backtrack program and make sure i have the second option pointed to "/mnt/backtrack" which is where i mounted /dev/hda1
then changed to full install and removed the check mark.
i then use the poweroff cmd. and remove the iso from the virtual cd.
repower on the VM and nothing. blank. nada. just a cursur that doesnt blink in the uper left corner.
i have deleted and recreated the process many times with no success. any idears?
thanks.
