Dell C600 pcmcia/carbus slots

Ok this is a new one. Every so often after reboot if I insert a cardbus card it won't work.

cs: pcmcia_socket0: cardbus cards not supported

if I put it in the other slot

cs: pcmcia_socket1: cardbus cards not supported

And this laptop does support cardbus as it only happens at random boots. Where's the next place to look to track this thing down?

I have checked a few sites for linux compatibility, none have reported severe issues with pccard.

I need to know more information:
1) If it supports cardbus at random reboots, any cardbus/pcmcia card you insert will work?
2) What sort of card do you insert into that drive?
3) Have you tried inserting that card in other laptops?
