I have to ask since I can't get my t61 booting to bt3 with either usb or cd, how do you get around the black screen issue?
Do you have the intel or nvidia video card in your t61?
Thanks - Spyder
So I'm posting here because I can't get any reliable sound out of my laptop with BT3 Beta and am hoping BT3 Final to have a fix. The problem is that when trying to play some videos with sound through the web, ex. the backtrack 3 teaser, I get effed up terrible sound. Now, I am using the T61 audio hack that I found through google( hxxp://forums.remote-exploit.org/showthread.php?t=10466 )and have done tons or research but can't get reliable sound. I wanna have my sound legit and fixed once and for all. I hope I'm not alone and I hope someone can help me. I have also tried installing the new alsa utilities, firmware, and drivers which ultimately give me no sound at all as opposed to the hack.

So im not having any issues booting with either the cd or usb...I have a nvidia quadro.
here's what i have done to fix the sound problem:
recompile the kernel(2.6.25.3) with think_acpi added, and build sound support as module
recompile the alsa1.0.0.16(both driver, lib and utils).
>./configure --with-cards=hda-intel --with-sequencer
>make && make install
>turn on pcm & pcm2 which is default mute
My battery's dead so I can't now but later I will post in the tutorials section on these sound cards and add a few fixes for certain flavors of this card![]()
