The ipwraw drivers are already in bt3. Check the backtrack wiki for some pointers.
Hey,
I can't seem to work out following the instructions on the aircrack website how to get the ipw3495 card to work with ipwraw. Could be bt3 or user error as I am new to backtrack.
Here is the error I obtain from following the instructions.
tar -xjf ipwraw-ng*
cd ipwraw-ng
make
And this is the output I receive-
make -C /lib/modules/2.6.21.5/build M=/home/ipwraw-ng modules
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.21.5/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [modules] Error 2

This is the fix... Dam driver. ;D
I'm trying to get my ipw3945 drivers working in bt3 first before I start messing with ipwraw drivers because I don't want to keep switching with xp and backtrack just to go on the internet. Are the ipw3945 drivers included in bt3 or do I have to go to intelwireless.org and download them? I am installing the ieeesubsystem the latest development version and it asks if I want to remove these files supposably from the old ieeesubsystem do I say yes to this will it affect bt3?
thx

Yes they are included, you have to enable them via the kde menu.
Cannot remember the exact location right now, but they are there.
Hardware is Compaq nc2400
Network Card:BT3 Beta launched from a USB bootCode:bt ~ # lspci | grep Network 08:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (rev 02)
ipwraw works out of the box for monitoring (after modprobe -r iwl3945 && modprobe ipwraw)
I can see all the available networks (using airodump-ng wifi0) and do some additional monitoring stuff (though did have some problems injecting)
switching back to iwl3945 (rmmod ipwraw && modprobe iwl3945 + tried various suggestions) doesn't work.
i can see that I have wlan0:
but I cannot scan for networks (using the wireless assistant will generate an error "Radio of your wireless card seems to be off using an external switch on your computer..." - it is not, I see the led on and monitoring worked)Code:bt ~ # iwconfig lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. wmaster0 no wireless extensions. wlan0 IEEE 802.11g ESSID:"Guest" Nickname:"" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.467 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated Tx-Power=15 dBm Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr=2346 B Encryption key:off Power Management:off Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0 Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
iwlist will generate "wlan0 Failed to read scan data : Resource temporarily unavailable")
I'm using Bt3 , could somebody help me change to mode moniter to inject, I Loaded ipwraw in BT3 but I can't inject hix2
