I am separately running bt4-final on vmware hosted on a MacBook Air and a MacBook Pro, both running OSX 10.6.2. The MacBook Air has a NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M video card. The MacBookPro has two cards: 9400M and 9600M GT.
The link in the excellent Cudo HowTo (by Pureh@te) shows that the 9600M GT should support Cuda and though it doesn't list the 9400 M, it does list the 9400M G. (Moreover, the NVIDIA website only makes reference to the 9400 M G, and not the 9400 M, so I wonder if they are actually the same card.)
I have attempted to follow the HowTo as follows:
- Stopping X-server
- Installing the driver with: apt-get install nvidia-driver
- Attempting to restart xserver (Only to have it fail.)
- Running nvidia-xconfig (Failed again.)
- Check that the xorg.conf actually make reference to the NVIDIA driver
Here are the error messages I get:
(==) Log file: "/var/log/Xorg.0.log", Time: Mon Feb 1 21:58:20 2010
(==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf"
FATAL: Error inserting nvidia (/lib/modules/188.8.131.52/kernel/drivers/video/nvidi\

(EE) NVIDIA: system's kernel log for additional error messages.
(EE) Failed to load module "nvidia" (module-specific error, 0)

Any advice would be appreciated.
