iintel 3945 oddness
On booting from the BT3b CD a Sony SZ1VP Vaio laptop with an internal Intel 3945 chipset wifi card, iwconfig shows it is recognised and working as device wlan0 (in BT2 was shown as eth1 after manual module load)
lsmod says it has loaded iwl3945, so I guess it has recognised it correctly.
iwlist wlan0 scan will show wifi networks, however
airmon-ng start wlan0 fails with the following;
Interface Chipset Driver
wlan0 iwl3945 - [phy0] /usr/local/sbin/airmon-ng: line 338: /sys/class/ieee80211/phy0/add_iface: Permission denied
mon0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
(monitor mode enabled on mon0)

====This does not belong is this section.some one move it ==============================
ipw 3495 shows up as wlan0 yes.
for monitor mode you are better of using the ipraw drivers which show up a wifi0 and rtap1 or something. I use wlan0 to connect to the net and ipraw as wifi0 for any thing to do with aircrack or monitor mode.

thanks will use the ipraw module now
airmon works great, now I have a problem with start-kismet-ng but I'll try to find the right place to ask about that.
thanks
