    Default Compiz Nvidia - no window decorations

    Compiz starts without window decorations. This is because the config script uses nvidia-xconfig and apparantly it doesn't work like it should;

    fix: (cfr also wiki)

    open a shell (if things dont work ok, select kwin window manager in the fusion-icon)

    type:
    nvidia-xconfig --add-argb-glx-visuals
    and
    nvidia-xconfig -d 24

    then restart X by typing CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE

    cheers

    barbsie

    Hi all,

    I had an issue with Compiz losing the window decorations on an Intel 945 after updating the repos in /etc/Slapt-get and solved it by messing around as follows.

    Basically, I found that for some reason the Beryl-Default Red theme had been deleted from Emerald so I just selected a differnt theme and saved and re-started from login screen using 'xconf;cubez;startx'. I then re-enabled the windows decoration option in Compiz and I got them all back.

    Not a very scientific approach but hope it may help someone...

    BTW, I disabled md5 check when updating from the darkstar, jaos and slackware 12 repos and this seems to be what caused the issue. Is this OK? It wouldn't sem to let me update without doing this. Seems to be working anyway!

    Cheers

    I've had strange isssues as well on my USB install; when I switch desktops using the cube effect, after 2-3 switches my windows disappear and I have to restart X all over again...

    I haven't had the time as of late to figure it out
