    Default Determining Encryption Length (64/128)

Please forgive me if there has been a lot of discussion on this, I just couldn't find anything on this when searching.

As I type this I'm attempting to crack my own AP which I know is 128 bit WEP, but I was wondering how you would find out how you needed to run AirCrack if you didn't know anything about the AP.

For example I'll be using this next week at work on a couple of different Cisco AP's, all with different settings. I was just wondering if there is a way to determine what level of WEP is being used on a given AP.

Also BackTrack is a great tool! I learned about this at a local ISSA meeting and will be using it very often at work from now on!

    Thanks!

With the latest developmental version of the aircrack-ng suite, you need not enter a -n 64 or -n 128 option to specify its encryption level. It "default-ly" done "auto-magically" by leaving off the -n option.

Just watch my video(s) in my signature..and when I do the aircrack-ng command at the end..leave off the -n option. It will test both encryption levels on its own. Or just type in aircrack-ng and hit enter and read the command options to determine what options are best for your situation.

    Hope this helped you.
