Mouse issue

So I have a issue. I have a satellite u205. I have bt3 on dvd and usb and it works fine, Compiz and every thing. Also I am already running slackware 12.0 as every one knows and have had this kernel running on this machine before. Now the problem is when I install bt3 to hard drive every thing is great until i start kde and then when it loads my mouse is dead. I also get no recognition on usb ports. Now normally I would just rebuild to another kernel but I have had this kernel with slackware 12.0 working fine so i'm assuming its not the issue. If anyone has any insight I would appreciate it.
