Has anyone been able to search these forums using their username? I tried mine and a few others with no luck via search or advanced search.
I'm a compulsive post editor, you might wanna wait until my post has been online for 5-10 mins before quoting it as it will likely change.
I know I seem harsh in some of my replies. SORRY! But if you're doing something illegal or posting something that seems to be obvious BS I'm going to call you on it.
Still not underestimating the power...
There is no such thing as bad information - There is truth in the data, so you sift it all, even the crap stuff.
Yes I'm aware of the google work around, I simply hoped that the functionality here would actually be fixed
Do moderated posts somehow not count as posts by a user (since they're actually posted by a mod/admin)?

Capitalisation is important. It's the difference between "Helping your brother Jack off a horse" and "Helping your brother jack off a horse".
The Forum Rules, Forum FAQ and the BackTrack Wiki... learn them, love them, live them.
I shouldn't have said "count" I mean as far as the search indexer is concerned. Is a moderated post considered posted by the user or the moderator?

No, a moderated post simply is not seen by non mods and admins until it is approved. It is still posted by the user, it simply goes in a queue where we review them before we let them out into the forums. This is the number one way to get rid of spam and illegal first posts and things. Its a lot of work but we feel its worth it.
Can you elaborate on the username search issue? Is it still broken? It works for me but that may be because of my privileges, I am not sure.
When I goto Advanced Search and enter "thorin" as the user name I see only this thread.
I expected to see all threads I've contributed to.
There doesn't seem to be a combination of elements/settings that accomplishes this.
I am able to list all my posts (not threads) from my profile but that doesn't really help either on threads where I've contributed more than one post.

The forum search engine just doesn't like you.Or your name rather. Since when I searched your name it only shows this post as well. But my name or others work just fine. I will pass the info along.
I just noticed something interesting. When I'm in a forum there's a little "Search Forum" dropdown towards the top right (not in the header section) {http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forums/search.php?search_type=1&contenttypeid=1&forumchoi ce[]=}. If I select "Advanced Search" for that dropdown I do not get the same search page that I get when I select "Advanced Search" from the header section {http://www.backtrack-linux.org/forums/search.php}.
Using "Advanced Search" from the "Search Forum" dropdown I am able to search and specify either Threads or Posts (toward the bottom) using my username and get the expected results.
Note: For this specific post I disable the option to parse links so that they would be properly displayed.
