    Default Zydas 1211 Not Working

Zydas chipset 1211b(on Hawking HWU8DD) not working anymore with BT3.

On BT2Final it was working "Out of the Box" just for injection was needed a patch.

On BT3 is not working at all "Out of the Box". On Inspiron 2200 it shows just the Broadcom Wireless as eth0.

I'll be back after more testing on zd1211b with the zd1211rw patch.

I had the same problem with mine. I had to add a zd1211 directory to the lib/firmware directory and copy the firmware to that. Then unplugged the usb adapter and plugged it back in. It was then recognized.

I think if you had a wired connection, with airdriver-ng you can get, compile, and install the latest firmware.

    Default kk its working

it works but you need to download hxxp://zd1211.wiki.sourceforge.net/VendorDriver drivers from there and but them in /lib/firmware

I downloaded all of the files for the driver from the webpage LiVED posted. What do I do with those files? Just create a directory in /lib/firmware and dump them all in there or do I have to do something else first?

...until BT3 is final, just copy this file and dump it over there ( /lib/firmware)

    Code:
    rapidshare.com/files/77762561/zd1211.rar
(also you can get this file from BT2 Final same directory)

...Download this file, unrar, copy the file (zd1211 folder), paste the file into /lib/firmware , unplug and then plug again your wireless card. (on Live you need to do that every time you boot the system;except Download, unrar ;hope you copy this file on your Usb or another system)

...go to a terminal type: ifconfig eth (or whatever your card is) up
...then type : iwconfig eth essid "essid here" ( Don't forget to put " " if the essid name is longer...like My Wireless Network )
...to see networks around type : iwconfig eth scan

...for injecting don't forget to patch this driver with instructions from here:

    Code:
    aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?id=zd1211rw

...srry guys if I explained to "nooby" but maybe there is somebody who really need this information exactly like here ( I had a pm which ask me to explain like that )

I too seem to be having some issues with my Zydas card. I downloaded the firmware as stated (why it wasn't already included who knows). I can get the card recognized. But a had a couple issues with it connecting to my AP. Using the command line:

    Code:
iwconfig eth1 essid 'penguin' key XXXXXXXXXX
    Resulted in
    Code:
    IEEE 802.11b ESSID:"p"
              Mode:Managed Frequency:2.457 GHz Access Point:invalid
The AP is only 5ft away!. I did get it to connect via wlassistant. Though could not get IP via DHCP. Inputing it manually worked just fine.

Airodump-ng seems to work just fine. But I can't inject packets. I used the
    Code:
    aireplay-ng -9 eth1 -a XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
Which failed and even ran the command for a fake auth while under Wireshark recorded on another device. I noticed no packets being sent at all with the zd1211rw drivers.

...for injecting don't forget to patch this driver with instructions from here:

    Code:

    aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?id=zd1211rw
Missed that part :{ Will try patching...

Under BT2 Final I was able to inject exactly on these conditions:

From Aircrack-ng website (the patching page for this driver):

    Code:
    aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?id=zd1211rw

"....The older zd1211 chipset only partially supports injection. Any injection which requires the device to receive a packet does not work correctly. So the fake authentication, chopchop, and fragmentation attacks plus injection testing do not work. Other basic functions such as monitor mode and the remaining attacks work.

The new zd1211b chipset only partially supports injection. Monitor mode and injection testing works. Assuming you use a MAC address already associated with an AP, normal injection and chopchop attack works. Fake authentication and the fragmentation attacks do not work although some people have reported limited success. Perhaps this depends on the revision level of the chipset...."

Under BT3 beta I couldn't inject yet ...but at the moment my time si limited (getting ready for Christmas )...

After a positive Injection I will post the method used...

    Cheers!

my ZyXEL AG-225H USB dongle works fine (firmware 1.4), except for the packet injection.

i followed the instructions @ aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?id=zd1211rw. patching the zd1211rw module gave me the following output:

    bt linux-2.6.21.5 # patch -Np1 --verbose --dry-run -i zd1211rw_inject_2.6.22.patch

i also tried the zd1211rw_inject_2.6.21-gentoo.patch version but got the same result.

patching the ieee80211 module seemed to work fine:
