Hello I have a Dell Inpsiron 1505 (6400) And when i goto startx or flux I get this error. Also I'm using the usb and planned to duel boot.

Atheros AR5008 (AR4618) originally had a 1390 Broadcom but it would lose to many packets so I scraped it.
Intel Pentium Duel Core 1.6Ghz-2 gig 577 MHz Ram

    Code:
    Fatal Server Error:
    no screens found
    giving up.
xinit: Connection Reset by Peer (errno 104): Unable to connect to X Server
xinit: No Such process (errno 3): Server error
But any help would be nice I'm not Linux savvy but i can get around decently. But I'm About to head to the IRC and ask for help also if i get it figured out I will edit this post with the fix

which GPU you have? i had this problem when i tried to install debian etch... the cause was the kernel version.it CAN be that bt3 uses an too old kernel.

try to open the xorg.config (in debian: /etc/init.d/X11/xorg.config" with nano editor and check which driver is used... normally "nv" should work, but this only worked with the new release of debian lenny...
it could be that you have to install the newest nvdia drivers (if you use an nvidia card) and changed "nv" to nvidia and reboot the xserver. i will post my results on sunday... im using a nvidia geforce 8600

I'm having the same problem with an Acer Aspire 1350:

(EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration

    Fatal server error:
    no screens found

    giving up

Do post if you solve this problem - I have a feeling it is fairly minor but I have no idea how to fix it...

my assumption is an error in the xserver config. in about one hour the dl is ready and i can take a look on the config

Unhappy Getting the same error with Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT

I also get the same error:

    Code:
    Fatal Server Error:
    no screens found
    giving up.
xinit: Connection Reset by Peer (errno 104): Unable to connect to X Server
xinit: No Such process (errno 3): Server error
I get this error in all video modes (i.e. KDE, Flux, VESA, etc).

I have heard of several people having problems with my video card due to the fact that is somewhat new. I had hopes that since this is the new version of BackTrack that it may work. Looks like I may have been wrong.

    Any help would be appreciated.

BTW, I am booting from a USB key and I have downloaded and added the nvidia.lmz module that is currently posted on the Main Page of the BackTrack Wiki.

Thanks in advance for any help!
