    Question X Window Display Problems

So, after doing some serious Google-Fu, I decided that I might try some luck here on the forums.

I recently installed BackTrack to my USB HD using BaldingParrot's method here on the forums. The install went fine except for one thing: the display.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1150, which according to the HCL on the wiki should be working just fine with BT, yet for some reason X Windows will not display correctly. After loading BT and logging in I run the xconf command and the system goes through it's normal jazz, but when I run startx I get the loading cursor - you know, the white circle with the blinking footprint - and it never goes away.

I tried using FluxBox as well, but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. What do you think the problem could be?

So, incidentally, the display worked yesterday, once. I ran startx without the xconf command and we were working just fine. Shut down the computer, hasn't worked again since. This is really strange.
