Question HD Install booting w/ black screen :(

Hello everybody, i have been lurking the forums for a while now, and it looks like i need help finally

Just for the record, EVERYTHING is working fine and dandy...

Except, when i boot up my pc, and boot backtrack off my HD, i get absolutely NO type of video (screen is blank from the very start of the booting process)

The funny thing is, even without any video, when i can login like i would usually do ( user=root pass=toor) and when i type "startx" it starts KDE no problem, and everything works.

To sum it up, i want to know if any of you pro linux users can help me fix this problem.

Here is my xorg.conf, and my lilo.conf

(sry, i have to post the links like this since i cant post the full links)

    hxxp:// sudik.fileave.com /xorg.conf

    hxxp:// sudik.fileave.com /lilo.conf

Thank you for reading this far THX

dude.... if you really wanted to "help" me, you would've downloaded the xorg, and my lilo conf files (you probably thought i posted a Trojan/virus... freaking n00b lol)

Anyways, i first tried posting my config files, BUT they exceeded 1000 words, so its not my fault.

somebody please help me!! this is really making me go crazy

Try using paste bin for large files and then link it. I'm sure that some people have well exceeded the download limit for a lot of free sites so they can not down load.

Don't know anything about your machine, but....

    Have you tried something lower?
Maybe the framebuffer is to high for your vga?

    Try 788 (800x600x64k) or even 785 (640x480x64k) if it's an old/small screen....

Failing that even "vga=normal" instead of using a framebuffer?

    Just an idea...

Thx for your help, but i think that is not the problem. I have support up to 1680x1050 resolution.

I just cant figure out WHY everything, including my Nvidia drivers are working perfectly, EXCEPT the damn booting screen!! :*

I am still stuck on this one.

    Here is my PC specs

    Mobo= Asus M2N-E
    Cpu= X2 3600+
    Video card= Nvidia 7900GS

    thank you once again

If you have the LG Model L204WT (which it looks like it according to your pastebin)
    #
    Section "Monitor"
    #
    Identifier "Monitor0"
    #
    VendorName "Unknown"
    #
    ModelName "LG L204WT"

try this link to see if it helps

I appreciate your help, but i really dont think that is the issue.. i have my Nvidia drivers installed, and i have my screen @ the highest resolution (1680x1050)

    This is driving me nutz!

Does anybody know why the booting process has no video what so ever?

And when i blindly login and type startx, my KDE loads up fine! and i even have Nvidia drivers installed and working wonderful!

If you still have no framebuffer, use the vga=normal instead, like I mentioned before - even for a temp fix so you can see what's going on when you boot!

Having "support" in your vga driver and monitor for a 1680x1050 resolution has nothing to do with the framebuffer stage!

One thought - are you running your own (re)compiled kernel or stock BT one?
