Keyboard problems

In Backtrack3 I'm having keyboard problems. Only noticed this tonight but I havent been in Backtrack in nearly three weeks.

When I try to type a 'y' character I get a 'z' character. And vica versa. Uppercase and lowercase. All other alphabetic/numeric characters are fine.

I have to type a '-' character to get an apostrophe character and a to get a '-' character I have to type a forward slash character.

If I want an asterisk I have to type Shift+3 instead of Shift+8.

The Shift+8 and 9 characters give me my parentheses. In general, the keyboard is messed up.

Anzone have an idea of what I might do to correct this?

have you looked at the bottom right hand of your screen for the language settings/layout for your keyboard yet?
you can add remove languages...........

I am willing to wager you either a: have a German/European Keyboard
or b: have German/European keyboard

It will do this when you have an english language or keyboard layout .
