Default bt not working with my laptop wireless card

I have an in built Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (rev 02) wireless card, I tried to modprobe ipw3945 but ifconfig -a still does not detect it, what should I do?
update: I followed the wiki at http://backtrack.offensive-security....reless#IPW3945
Special Notes : Enable the drivers via KDE menu or cd /usr/src/drivers/ipw3945-1.2.0/ && ./load
and got it up and running up my question now would be how do I get it to load everytime on startup and also why didn't modprobe work when lsmod | grep ipw3945 clearly showed that the module was loaded?

There is a lot of information on the forums to figure this out, if you want to use it for injection you should check this out:
