If you look at the Up-Side-Down-Ternet article it would be a similar idea, setup a reverse proxy and rewrite some of the traffic. Only in this case instead of flipping the graphics you just look for "application/octet-stream" content and insert your own.

Ah, I've tried the upsidedownternet. It was a lot harder than it looked. Its much easier to setup a smoothwall box. I haven't tried adding the upsidedown part to it yet, but the cache proxy works great for the lan. Web-browsing is so much faster. Also, everything is nicely logged, including websites, IM's, and just about anything else.

I think smoothwall is missing the imagemagic libraries. Though I only looked into it a couple years ago, one of the newer builds might have it now.
Of course, if you really wanted to have some fun, go to Wal-Mart late at night and ask the greeter if they could help you find trashbags, roll of carpet, rope, quicklime, clorox and a shovel. See if they give you any strange looks. --Streaker69
