How to get version number and build number from BT2?

Interested in installing truecrypt on Backtrack 2 final -- need to know commands to extract the corresponding build and version number from my install so I can find related information on installing truecrypt to this version/build. I'm sure someone can tell me that command(s).

Could you clarify what it is you are meaning by build and version number ?

More probably:

uname -a

will give you all the details that you need.
