    Default Problem with Firefox

After four months of working great, all of a sudden Firefox (from BT cd) on my laptop stopped working. It comes back with a message "The proxy server is refusing connections". I checked all the proxy settings and they seems to be fine.

Any suggestions regarding how to fix it?

If nothing works, is there a way to reload it from BT cd?

Or should I download most recent Mozilla Firefox for Linux_Slackware 11.0 and try to reinstall it? Hope the installation is straight forward like Windows.

Is it a HDD install, well you seem to be inferring that.
Are you sure the problem is firefox.
Are you using tor and privoxy.
Have you added any plugins which may be interfering with it.
Why have you not used the update function built into firefox.

    Thanks!

Yes, it is a HDD install.
I have been able to get on the internet with the other browser Konqueror on the BT. But it is not that good.
I do not have tor or proxy on my lap top.
No, I did not install any plugins.
Also, when I used the update function it does not work. Update function is trying to access the internet and Firefox comes back with the same message " the proxy server is refusing connection"

It worked perfectly for the first four months then I must have done something unknowingly because it stopped working.

    I would welcome any suggestions.
