    Default Forum Topic Suggestion

    Security

This could be a good place for discussions about general security and perhaps a place for all of the u83r l337 h4x0r$ to post about security flaws, hardening, issues, etc.

That is actually a very good point. I think that my reason for suggesting that topic kind of reflects my reasoning for ever downloading B|T in the first place, which is to better learn Security by learning how to pwn my own shit!!!!

It would kind of be a cool idea to have a topic focussed for the people like me who can share the (very valuable) information they have from using the B|T distro to post found issues and network/system hardening practices. I think the current forum schema kind of limits or intimidates some people not to post things related to proof of concept security information, since there isn't a topic for it.

Think of it like chess: with the current topics, we can all share / post info on the tools of B|T which are used in an offensive manner to find holes in hardware, software, and networks, when in reality the distro is used for the purpose of finding the holes and thus educating the end user to further the defensive side of security, yet there is no topic for this.

I myself am a Greyhat; I have to be in order to be up with the times to ensure that my 9-5 network and my 5-9 network is always at a state of secure operation. In a perfect world, I would only have to be a forum member here to get usable info on how to further secure my nets, as the moderation in this forum is top-notch... as Balding_Parrot says in his sig: garbage in, garbage out

There is no problem posting what you want to in the Specialist Forum. You could think of that as your "u83r l337 h4x0r$" spot to discuss whatever you wish..post your -=Xploitz=- or exchange info if you so chose. As Shaman has said...this forum is not an "General Security" site....its a BT2 support forum. This forum is for supporting problems, bugs, issues you or any other member have when using BT2. The forums are cluttered up enough as is and I really don't think this forum needs any more additions. (I hate scrolling through 20 Main forum areas on the first page of a site.....makes the forum look "Unprofessional" ..IMO) But I do understand where your coming from. Maybe one day there will be such an addition..but I cannot speak for the owner(s) of this site..I can only speak for myself. I personally would enjoy such an addition..but I don't want to see the type of clientèle that addition would attract..if ya know what I mean.

Personally, we've already attracted the worst kind possible. N00bcakes and Nubsauces! Crap. I'm one of those...

I would 2nd the "security" section. I haven't come across a better forum. I've learned more in this forum than anywhere else. I mean, we have a "programming" section, and yet, I dont program with my BT distro just my .02$ that doesn't add up to much lol.
I felt like bending the bars back, and ripping out the window frames and eating them. yes, eating them! Leaping, leaping, leaping! Colonics for everyone! All right! You dumb*sses. I'm a mental patient. I'm *supposed* to act out!
