Laptop freezes while running aircrack for over 40 minutes
I am running BT2 Live CD on a laptop with 256MB. I have aireplay and airodump and aircrack running, I collect around 500,000 IV's in 30-40 minutes and the the laptop freezes up! Anyone know what can cause this? I have searched for answers here, at aircrack and google, but haven't found any. Any help would be great, thanks.

I bet it is a simple case of you just running out of memory, as it is trying to hold that amount of collected data as well as the OS.Originally Posted by trajan

Definitely. More speed and stability...plus all your downloads and configurations will be saved.
Now when you say 256MB...are you talking RAM or HD size?? Hopefully your not doing trying this on a 256MD HD!!

Or you could simply mount a usb stick and save your collected data to there instead...
Thats the easy way!!Theres no "learning" in that!! You know we like to keep it as difficult as possible for no0bies to figure out on their own!!

Also with a hard drive install you can create a bigger swap space which would solve your memory problem.
I used the USB method and cracked my Ap's key (128 bit) in 28 minutes

BTW..you might want to SERIOUSLY consider a HDD install. Its worth it!!
