compiling the latest kopete in BT2

How can I compile the latest kopete into BT2? I tried, but there was problems with it. It compiles and runs but there are several things wrong with it including missing icons.

How can you do a distro upgrade on BT2?

Is there enough space on a 2 gb usb disk for a distro upgrade? Here is the partition layout I have.
