You have to check to see if wlan0 is in Mode:Monitor by performing the cmd
    Code:
    iwconfig
. If you see it in Mode:Managed you have to change it to Monitor mode. To perform that task:

    Code:
    ifconfig wlan0 down
    iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor
    ifconfig wlan0 up
    Perform the cmd
    Code:
    iwconfig
to see if that Mode is now in Monitor Mode.

After that you are good to go.

I have tried this all before but still it does not make a mon0 interface... i can see the networks by
    Code:
    airmon-ng start wlan0
but i have to keep pressing refresh on WICD Manager otherwise it won't capture packets.

    Hmm,
That's weird, can you send me:
    lspci
    lsusb
and the message that appears when you do a airmon-ng start <interface>, also any other messages that appears when it comes to go into mon0.

    Cheers
