    I totally agree with you. I migrated from Ubuntu Karmic to Debian testing about 9 months ago, and ever since I know why Debian is the base for all others distros. Will never change distro and kali is a Debian Hybrid, and working just fine...

    But I was refering about people thinking that everything will be more Automatic..It is Debian, not Ubuntu...That is what I was trying to say...

    If someone is interested in learning Linux the right way and learn why things are done, from scarp, use Debian, you might end up breaking your head, since nothing there is taken for granted, but at the end, you will learn so much in such a small period of time.

    As I always say, I'm Debianist by conviction...

    it's so easy to install wicd in kali

    make sure that you apt-get update && apt-get upgrade

    then

    apt-get install wicd
    .

    Thanks for the answer, I was trying a manual install with no Internet, since I only have wireless access, but over the weekend I will connect to a LAN connection - Thanks again
