All what I can say that cannot wait to get my hands on 'Kali'
Hi all,
I've been reading up lately and to my surprise discovered in the works Kali Linux! Since there is little info to go on, and I for one love to speculate... well not really, would love to start some conversation on this upcoming release! Of course, we have been provided some interesting clues. The teaser video on the Blog page was done very nicely. With a little bit of googling, and closer look at Offensive's site, they do have an interesting quote, "...once a new version of PWB(Pentesting with Backtrack) is available, in the next 6 months." A tantalizing clue... And then of course another interesting, Wikipedia entry on BT shows a release date for BT6 code named Kali Linux for March 9th! 2013... Citation needed lol.
In all and all looks like its going to be a world of fun for the next couple of months with the Back Track Team and community.
What are ya'lls thoughts?

I'm not sure that it's wise to jump on the new version as soon it will be released though. From the past releases experience there'll be a lot of tweaks and questions based on the new experience.
I think I'll pass to move my station on it 'till Kali facelift No 1![]()
Everyone has started from ZERO. I'm not an exception but I'm trying to hear more than speak too much.

Interesting news. Apparently Offensive Security announced its release 3-7-2013. From their RSS feed! However, the link http://www.offensive-security.com/ka...inux-released/ shows not found. But, if you use Google's cache it's there. Looking more exciting day by day. (Perhaps it was premature to release, want some more in house testing, just thinking out loud haha) Also, the wikipedia entry has been removed.

I think It will be based on Debian testing version for what I've read or at least that is what I understand: fully fledged Debian-compliant packaging and repositories.
If so, all depends on the debian realeses (stable and testing). Wheezy is still the testing version, but about to migrate to the stable version.
It has been freezed up almost 4 moths ago and almost ready to become the stable release, in which case Sid (Jesse) version will be the testing version.
I really hope is totally based on Debian. If so, perhaps all timming might depends on Debian development and packaging migration.
The BT5 team is doing a titanic effort .
let's just wait, in the mean time, all comes down to speculations.

Seven years of developing BackTrack Linux has taught us a significant amount about what we, and the security community, think a penetration testing distribution should look like. We’ve taken all of this knowledge and experience and implemented it in our “next generation” penetration testing distribution.
After a year of silent development, Offensive Security is proud to announce the release and public availability of “Kali Linux“, the most advanced, robust, and stable penetration testing distribution to date.
.
Going to test it out shortly! Excited. and Enjoy^^
Damn. I have BT5 customised and working perfectly, but I just know I won't be able to resist installing this immediately. There's the weekend gone!
