Unhappy Expand partition on VM Backtrack

    Hi,

I'm trying to extend the size of my partition on my VM Backtrack.
The problem is there doesn't seem to be a volume name so I can't resize without a volume name.
lvscan provides no information when run....

    root@bt:~# df -kh
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    /dev/sda1 18G 15G 1.5G 92% /
    none 493M 240K 493M 1% /dev
    none 501M 8.0K 501M 1% /dev/shm
    none 501M 64K 501M 1% /var/run
    none 501M 0 501M 0% /var/lock
    none 501M 0 501M 0% /lib/init/rw

    Disk /dev/sda: 30.1 GB, 30064771072 bytes
    255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 3655 cylinders
    Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
    Disk identifier: 0x0000181a

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
    /dev/sda1 * 1 2260 18146304 83 Linux
    /dev/sda2 2260 2350 724993 5 Extended
    /dev/sda3 2350 3655 10485443+ 83 Linux
    /dev/sda5 2260 2350 724992 82 Linux swap / Solaris

Anybody know what to do? I've tried a few things including the following:

    root@bt:~# vgextend /dev/sda1 /dev/sdaX
    Volume group "sda1" not found

Which virtualization software are you using? I would imagine you have to use the software to expand the amount of allocated space to the virtual disk, then within backtrack expand the Extended partition into the newly allocated disk space.
