Question [Q] need some help with installation of BT5R3 to usb persistent(full disk encryption)

    Hi,

here is what I would like to get as a final product:

a usb with BTR3 with full disk encryption (encryption not 100% necessary, but I usb persistent a must)
    ------------
    I'm using the following:

    32gb sandisk usb

VMware workstation 9 (install on Windows 7 x64)

    -----

here is what i have done so far:

i have created a virtual machine using VMware and BT5R3 genome 32 . iso (i did not installed tools or install BTR3)

I'm following the how-to (Backtrack 5 – Bootable USB Thumb Drive with “Full” Disk Encryption) located at:

    http://www.infosecramblings.com/back...sk-encryption/

I didn't had to star networking so
    i just
    startx

    I confirmed that I was online(internet working)(great)

and here is what I have done (copy from the shell and paste it here)

    part 2.txtpart 1.txt

Now I'm stuck on the last input, I know that the tutorial says it should take a while (hours)

but I would like to know if I'm doing this correctly or not

there might be some errors on what I did.

originally the tutorial say to delete all partition because the usb could have more than one partition, so I deleted 1 through 4

and then created a new partition just like the tutorial states

thank you everyone time and knowledge

If only persistence is enough you could try this: http://www.backtrack-linux.org/wiki/...Persistent_USB
Back|track giving machine guns to monkeys since 2007 !

Do not read the Wiki, most your questions will not be answered there !
Do not take a look at the: Forum Rules !

I strongly suggest to use unencrypted USB, HDD, SD, etc...I've seen people pulling their hair off when the such encrypted, top secret, etc device crashes and are not able to recover their data...

Keep it simple, use wiki as stated by sickness, and when you are an advanced user to linux and know how to make usb persistent installs and fully understand the terms, now you are ready to take your chances and encrypt even your car keys..But need to be aware of circumstances you might ended up with.

Meanwhile, you have all the wiki to make a USB persistent installation. Start learning, getting informed and after that, if you want to take your chances, go ahead, but not before.

    Luck, my friend.
