I am trying to follow the instructions to install backtrack 5 on VMware but the I cannot get the jumbled up commands on the backtrack homepage to work. Perhaps the commands are jumbled up and I was typing in the wrong one but I get to the GUI in the VMware image but get confused when I go to installing the VMware tools.

I have been having issues with vmware and BT(USB Wi-Fi device not working)
I had to build a new Rig and install BT to a flash drive to get over the errors
so just be warned
BTW i never needed to use VMware tools (all tho i did install them at some point)
BT works good without it installed
I usually copy the vm version of the BackTrack to the Virtual Machine ( such as : VMware Fusion ) . Then run / power on the BackTrack.
For the best performance I recommend you to install the VMware Tools.
